A Stunning Button Box by Rachel Lowe

Hello! it’s Rachel here. I still can’t get enough of The Dressmaker CardStack and am now on my third project. I love creating craft room storage and so today I have a Button Box to share with you!

I cut my box using a cut file from the Silhouette design store as I have a Cameo cutting machine. Of course you could use any box and re-cover it!

My box is 5×5 inches and I used Kraft paper. I cut a 5×5 inch paper strip using the muted blue paper from the Artist Series Lorraine Haight Moraine BackStack. I then cut a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch strip from the pattern paper piece in The Dressmaker CardStack. Lastly I cut a 5 x 3 inch strip from Kraft paper using a scallop punch to add visual interest.

I used Mod Podge to adhere the tissue paper and once dry I added another layer over the top. You will see that it has folds and creases which I created on purpose to add to the vintage look.

To create the aged look I used a wax crayon and by adding water it creates a workable colour. I then layered my paper pieces and added a layer of vintage lace. I cut three buttons from Kraft, I used the wax crayon again on these and added to the centre of the box lid. To add texture I stamped and used white embossing powder.

Lastly I fussy cut one of the beautiful dolls and chose the vintage green dress in keeping  with my theme. I added a phrase sentiment and there you have it, one unique vintage box.

Most of the papers I used are from The Dressmaker CardStack:

The gorgeous blue background paper is from Lorraine Haight Moraine’s BackStack:
