Altered Chopping Board by Chaitali Dekhtawala

Hi, it’s Chaitali here. I have altered an old wooden chopping board and converted it to a home décor piece with a mini calendar. It’s very much a functional calendar and is easy to change to a new month 🙂

I love the variety of textures and papers in each ArtStacks pack. This time I used my all-time favorite stack, Doors & Windows. I have used nearly all of the pages from this stack on this piece…right from the background to the collage and to the focal point. I also used the brown dressmaking tissue and the vintage music sheet from The Homemaker stack.

I started my project by layering the large background wall image paper onto the chopping board. I used clear crackle paste on top which turned out beautifully on it.

I then layered the other papers and embellishments on and added a peg to hold the calendar.

The Doors & Windows stack has lovely quotes too, one of which I have used in my project.

I added a frame over one of the window images so you peep through the shutters to see the window behind it. I also had to add some of my favourite transparent windows!

There is so much variety in texture in the papers in these stacks. I love them!

I used:

and….

The Homemaker – Print

I hope my piece has inspired you.
