Door Canvas by Chaitali Dekhtawala

Hi everyone.

I’m sharing my first Artist Team project for ArtStacks. I have used the fabulous (and my favorite) paper stack  Doors & Windows. This pack has lovely variety.

Here’s the steps to create it:

Step 1:
I used the reverse side of the rectangular canvas to create my project. Firstly, I applied heavy white gesso on the reverse side. Then I used a brick stencil with sand paste to get the brick wall effect. I also used a leafy stencil with texture paste on both sides of the canvas.

Step 2:
I then colored the bricks and the leaves on the sides with acrylic paint and sprays then highlighted the bricks with brass wax and burnt sienna liquid acrylic paint. I then added the beautiful door and window from ArtStacks’ Doors & Windows stack.

Step 3:
Next I added real branches, paper leaves, lace leaves (which I colored with two shades of green acrylic paints) and two metal owls to create the scene. Lastly, I added one more transparent door from the same Doors & Windows stack. Just love these transparent doors and windows in this pack! I added one more metal embellishment and some green wires (which I twisted) to enhance the complete scene.

Some close-ups:

I hope you like my project and that it inspires you to create something beautiful using our ArtStacks paper stacks. Here’s the Doors & Windows stack that I used.
