Hi, it’s Rachel here with you today. I am still crushing on Lisa Oxley’s gorgeous Bright and Bold and Floral Fetish Artist Series stacks. When I saw the pink and floral printed on canvas, I knew I wanted to make my own art journal and use this beautiful canvas as the cover!
I began by cutting two, 4 inch strips and then one,1 inch strip, which would be the spine. Once these pieces were cut, I machine stitched the 4 inch strips on either side of the 1 inch strip. Next, I machine stitched a border all the way around to create my journal cover.
I added punched butterflies using the floral paper and machine stitched them down the centre. I adhered these to my cover with fabric glue. I used one of the quotes printed on tissue from the Inspirational Words MiniStack to add to my cover. I adhered it with a Mod Podge, which dries clear.
To create my inserts, I used plain mixed media paper, cutting four, 5×8 inch pieces, scoring them at 4 inches, and folding each one.
To attach to my journal cover I used the three hole pamphlet stitch which is super easy to do. (There are plenty of YouTube videos if you are unsure of how to do this!)
On my back page, I created an insert pocket using the beautiful floral paper. I machine stitched this to ensure it would remain functional.
Finally, I created a journal page collaging several paper strips from both stacks. I added some glitter texture paste using a circle stencil and white paint, using a sponge. Lastly, I adhered the “people forms” and finished by adding my title, “Grow.”

This is a simple project to create and, because I used ArtStacks papers, it looks stunning in the end!
