Hi everyone. It’s Rachel here and I am excited to be sharing my first creation for ArtStacks!
I have created an art journal page using the wonderful Dressmaker CardStack. This CardStack includes a beautiful mixed media pre stitched ruffle paper, old book pages, sewing pattern tissue paper and paper dolls!
To create my back ground I used the pre-stitched ruffle paper and cut it to size. I then added some of the sewing pattern tissue paper over the top with Modge Podge. I tore some strips from the old book paper and added these to my page.
Once I was happy with my background I add stamping, embossing and machine stitching. You will see that I left the sewing thread uncut on my page to add more texture.
I went through my stash of ribbon and found a perfect piece for the style of my journal page.
I cut a 1 inch strip from the pre sewn ruffle paper which I made to my desired size by pulling a single thread at each end. I machine stitched down the centre which not only added more texture but adhered the lace into place as well.
I fussy cut this gorgeous paper doll. Before adhering her to my page I took some cream coloured thread and added it where I knew my paper doll would be placed. This connected her to the background by blending all the layers and textures together.
I lastly added a phrase sentiment to my page by using a quote from the Words of Wisdom MiniStack. This is available printed on both cardstock and tissue. I used the tissue version. This tissue paper is so easy to work with. I used Modge Podge to adhere my phrase and once it dried all you could see was the printed phrase! Yes – Don’t forget to play!
I used The Dressmaker CardStack. Note that the same images and papers are in The Dressmaker CoreStack at a slightly larger size.
My quote is from the Words of Wisdom MiniStack.
Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to sharing more ArtStacks creations with you soon!
